The opening match of ValueJet Cup Pre-season Tournament get underway this evening at the Remo Stars stadium Ikenne, Ogun state with Remo Stars slugging it out with Nigeria National League side, Ijebu United FC under floodlight.
The maiden edition of the competition, sponsored by ValueJet Airline witnessed hundreds of fans at the stadium once again after the end of Nigeria Professional Football League 2021/22 season.
Remo Stars after their recent return from a pre-season tour in Benin Republic paraded both their experienced old and new players for the opening match.
After 45+2 minute, Adams Olamilekan got the first goal of the first edition with the last kick of the first half to separate the two teams.
Eleven minutes into the second half, the new man again – Adams Olamilekan slams the ball into the roof of the net to make it two at the 57th minute.
After several chances created by Ijebu United, Ihemekwele Ifeanyi was put through on goal and he calmly puts it past Vincent Edafe to reduce the deficit for his team.
The match ended two-one in favour of the Sky Blue Stars.
